Hi, I’m Anxiety!
Hi, I’m Anxiety! When you feel me coming please don’t run away, just breathe in and breathe out. If I am still making you very nervous don’t hesitate to phone a friend/family/therapist.
Anxiety is a natural human emotion that everyone experiences at some point in their lives. However, understanding and managing anxiety can be challenging for many individuals. While anxiety can be a helpful signal that alerts us to potential danger, it can also be overwhelming and prevent us from living our lives to the fullest.
Anxiety can arise from various situations, such as confrontations, difficult work problems, and interactions with particular people. Sometimes, it can even appear without any apparent cause. Anxiety can feel like a feeling of nervousness or tension that can be paralyzing if we let it control and interfere in our lives.
However, we can learn to manage anxiety by recognizing its triggers and practicing coping strategies. Instead of allowing anxiety to keep us in alert mode all the time, we can learn to use it as a tool to alert us to danger. When we feel anxious, we can take a deep breath and remind ourselves that it is just an emotion that we can manage.
It's important to recognize that anxiety does not have to control our lives. We can take steps to reduce anxiety and take control of our thoughts and emotions. One way to do this is to turn off the switch that expects something bad to happen and instead focus on positive outcomes. We can train our minds to expect good things to happen and stay focused on the present moment.
Additionally, seeking support from friends, family, or mental health professionals can also be helpful. Talking about our anxieties with others can help us gain perspective and learn new coping strategies.
Journal prompt: Next time you’re feeling high levels of nervousness or anxiousness, take time to slow down, breathe and notice your surroundings. Ask yourself what do you see, hear, feel, taste, smell that’s making you feel anxious. Write it down. If it’s nothing in your surroundings, then whats consuming your thoughts? This will allow you to breakdown your senses and thoughts which in turn are attached to your feelings.
