It’s OK to Feel is just that. We are all human and have emotions, whether we like to express them or keep them inside. But there comes a time that we must allow ourselves and say, “it’s OK to feel.”

Hi, Friends glad you're here! I am Jennifer Acosta, the founder of It's OK To Feel. It's OK to Feel is about staying connected to your feelings but not staying stuck in your feelings. At times, we tend to dismiss our emotions, which may lead to negative consequences. Our emotions are a part of us, and it is essential to embrace them. By doing so, we open up the opportunity to grow, change, and become the best version of ourselves. My overall goal is to empower individuals and families to discover their best selves by connecting, processing, and embracing their emotions.

As a teenager, I fell in love with journaling because it allowed me to shine a light on what haunted me and face the truth. It's so empowering to be able to write down your thoughts and feelings at that present moment. Writing in my journal was the only time I didn't feel like I was living in darkness. Journaling allows me to stay connected to my feelings, recognize my triggers, and better understand how to take hold of them, so it doesn't control me.

I have a Bachelors degree of Social Science with a concentration in Psychology. The knowledge I obtained empowered me to understand and analyze human behavior and mental processes. Studying psychology contributed to my personal growth by helping me strengthen skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication and empathy. I'm a caring and selfless person who loves to help others. My focus is YOU, and remember, only you can create the life you want simply by starting with connecting with yourself. Sometimes I'm overwhelmed with mixed emotions, not knowing what to do, and it's OK. It's OK not to be OK. It's OK to feel our feelings, whatever they may be. It's OK not to have it all together. What's important is that we don't get stuck in our emotions and learn to process them.

Through my journey of self-exploration and self-love, I've fallen in love with myself, and I want to help you do the same. We may share the same experiences but know I will always respect your experience from my own because that's unique to you. Even though I had my struggles, I tried to find the best in every situation. Some people want to look at the bigger picture and what lies ahead, but sometimes I find it best to focus on the smaller picture. This is because it invited me to reflect on what was happening to me at that moment before I could move on to that bigger picture everyone was telling me. You're in a safe space to discover your feelings and what you want for yourself. Let's connect, process, and embrace our emotions together.

Feelings

  • It all begins with our experience and thoughts. Take time to connect feelings to certain people, places and experiences. Observe your feelings and reactions around certain people and places. We all have certain triggers and we must connect it and learn in order to grow emotionally.

  • Whatever it is, the way you tell your story whether to yourself, in a journal, or others can make all the difference. Put your thoughts and feelings down on paper or say them out loud in order to process it. By processing our feelings, we can release the tension that has built up.

  • After connecting and processing our feelings through our experiences, it’s time to embrace/accept why we feel the way we do. All of our feelings matter and we shouldn’t disregard any feeling good or bad as any less of value. Through this release of feelings, we create space for positive emotions such as love, joy and happiness.
